New Mexico Museum of Space History’s 50th Anniversary

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – The New Mexico Museum of Space History will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the premiere of a new temporary exhibit on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

The exhibit, To Build a Space Museum: Sketches, Schemes, and the Museum We Know. The premiere is part of the museum’s yearlong celebration recognizing five decades of preserving and sharing New Mexico’s important role in space exploration.

For 50 years, the New Mexico Museum of Space History has connected visitors with the people, places and achievements that helped shape space history. The anniversary exhibit offers New Mexicans an opportunity to celebrate the state’s lasting contributions while exploring stories that continue to inspire future generations.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
